About Us

Balmattum Garlic was established in 2019 when a dream to provide my son and myself  a country lifestyle became a reality.

I purchased a humble 86 acres of land and planted my first crop of garlic shortly after.

Garlic wasn’t always on the cards I had originally planned to run sheep on the property but i felt that it would be unrealistic and too much when caring for Bolton (1 at the time) on my own. After a chat about garlic with my chiropractor I decided to do some research and well now we grow garlic.

I choose to grow our garlic without the use of chemicals and my aim is to continually improve the ground I am working with. Using environmentally sustainable practices isn’t always easy but I feel it produces a better overall product.

Our farm is also home to a small herd of Galloway and Angus Cross Cattle.

At Balmattum Garlic we are passionate about the environment and part of that is limiting food wastage, In Australia fruit and vegetable waste on farm is between 20-40%.

Our aim is to limited wastage as much as possible. All the bulbs that would be classified as too small for consumer standards are used to make our minced garlic, garlic salt and garlic powder. Our on farm wastage would be around 2%

All our products are made as small batch production and we pride ourselves on producing quality, great tasting products.

I would love you to give our products a try, you wont regret it.

You can continue to follow our farming, business and sometimes personal journey through our email newsletter, Facebook or Instagram

With Love Amanda.

Our advantages

We are a small family business and our produce is grown with you in mind.

We pride ourselves on producing great tasting garlic without compromising on your health or the environment.

All our products are produced without the use of chemicals and have been hand planted, hand weeded and hand harvested.

Our aim is to produce our garlic without degrading the soil and we work hard to incorporate compost and natural fertilisers into the soil before and during the garlic season.

You can be sure that the garlic you are eating is both healthy for you and the environment plus it tastes great.
